Anna,
Cleome sometimes has the "marijuana leaf" look too. However, Cleome
is not illegal to grow, nor is it illegal to grow Hibiscus coccineus or the
Chaste Bush. The Police checked it out because it looks so much like the
illegal stuff, that is, before the bloom starts. Not once was I told not
to grow the plants. I think that the increasing presence of these plants
is prompting law enforcement officials to brush up on their knowledge of
what the real "weed" looks like.
