Rusty,
The divisions of an Iris show are Horticultural, Youth, Artistic,
Educational and Commercial. The Horticultural division is usually the
main division of the show. This is where most exhibitors place their
iris stalks for ribbons. The Youth is for persons under 19 years of
age. Artistic is for iris arrangements. Educational is for exhibits
related to irises, iris culture or hybridizing. Commercial is for
exhibitors who have commercial gardens.
Queen of Show and Best Speciman are phrases for the iris which is deemed
the Best iris in the show. Queen of Show is somewhat old fashioned and
many irisians still use the term. AIS would prefer the term Best
Speciman.
