Barb: The altitude effect is profound on living things, isn't it? My dad
always said that I & both my kids ended up being so tall because we grew
*up* in the mountains!
I fully intended to snap the pods off the 2 SDBs today but got
sidetracked (this is not unusual with me.) Because it did not rain at
all today (!) I spent time pursuing my mission in life in recent years:
killing thistles. Has your part of NMx been overrun by the 6'-7' monster
Canadian (or Musk) thistles? How 'bout Spotted Knapweed & Russian? These
beasties had gotten so bad on our hill that dogs & small children were
afraid to go outside. Proud to say that me & my jug of Round Up have
succeeded to the point where the real native wildflowers have returned,
at least locally. Now if the rest of the property owners up here would
just get off their duffs & help deal with the thorny invasion.
Sorry to be flippant about the lack of rain -- the drought that
clobbered southern Colorado & most of New Mexico last year was not fun &
I always hate to complain about how irritating rain is when I know all
too well that it can get drier that a horney toad's throat any minute
now.
Thanks for your advice on rebloomers.
