If this was aimed at Bill Maryott, he's off the Iris-L for a while due
to press of business (digging.)
But I can tell you that during a 25+ year career in the retail trade,
I often encountered the contrariness of the American consumer: if an
item wasn't selling well, we RAISED the price. Often this would move it
right out of the store -- made it seem more desirable, you see, because
it was more expensive. Conversely, an item that was really hot & selling
faster than we could get stock in -- well, sometimes we LOWERED the
price on that & guess what? Sales calmed down & we could keep enough
stock on hand to satisfy the demand.
People are truly weird...
