To all who took time to offer advice about my first-ever seed pods --
thanks! It really helped.
After being indecisive for a couple of days, I carefully broke the pods
off today & brought them inside to see if they'll finish drying out &
prove to have plantable seed, eventually. The pods are just barely
starting to dry, I think -- put 'em in little bowls with labels & set
'em on a counter out of the sun. Is this an okay way to do it?
All pods are from SDB's, 1 from Third Charm & 2 from Thrice Blessed. The
former is smallish compared to the latter, which are both *huge* -- they
remind me of Jalapeno peppers. I presume they were bug-pollinated -- *I*
certainly had nothing to do with it! The plants are in the same bed,
almost cheek-by-jowl.
Both of these SDB's are from Weiler, '81 & '82 respectively. I believe
they've also both made increases this season, but confess that I don't
remember how many fans/rhizomes each had when I planted 'em last August.
I didn't know then I was going to get so fascinated with the whole Iris
World.
