I am Robert Pindell, Bob. My wife says that I
have selective hearing and answer best to
"Dinner."
I live in the eastern suburbs of Cleveland, Ohio
in the area known as the "Snow Belt." If the air
temp. is below freezing, the wind is out of the
northwest and Lake Erie is not frozen the
neighbors and I can have a foot of that fluffy
white stuff in our drive ways in less than an
hour. That foot of snow is "affectionately"
known as "Lake Effect."
My interest in irises is to every year or so buy
a few more varieties of the tall bearded ones for
my collection, plant them in the front yard, wait
for them them to bloom and watch the traffic slow
down. In the handful of irises that I have, I
have every color of the rainbow plus a few that
aren't in the rainbow and have no idea of their
names!!! The next time I dig, divide and
replant it will be time to expand into the back
yard.
For me, irises are great fun because they come in
so many colors and can produce interesting
reactions in the neighbors. They always wonder
what colors I will have next year and why the
(insert color) iris didn't come back this year.
