Same here. Memphis has had 40 inches of rain already this year
and I am 70 miles S, where ours has been 'a little' less. I have not kept
score on the amount. I thought I would have more rot too, but it has been
at a minimum, thanks to clorox sprays, Comet, and pulling mud away from
the rhizomes. Things are repeating also: LAKE REPRISE, RECURRING
RUFFLES, CHAMPAGNE ELEGANCE, and a seedling. LR was a show stalk at our
NMLIS meeting.

Billie Lynn Jones did an outstanding job of showing the members
how she plants her award-winning irises. She brought a bucket of her soil
plus her soil amendments, mixed it in a flat type tray (like you get a
flat of bedding plants), mounded up the soil, and set two rhizomes.
Everybody was in awe. Her son John won the door prize, and I am sure he
will give it to his mom!

We had two people to join, but alas, we had to tell them to hold
back on their AIS memberships until December because of the crazy
AIS membership rules. But, I gave them some back issues to as examples of
what they will eventually get with their membership.
