Re: AR - advice required

:I got several aril species last year, including I. susiana. They all
:wintered well and grew quite well this spring.

John, where did your get your I. susiana? No one in the Aril Society has
been able to obtain the actual susiana for about 20 years; many of us
presume it is extinct in cultivation.

:My inclination is to dig it, put it in a bucket of sand in the basement and
:wait until early fall to replant. Would this be wise or would I be
:sentencing it to death? Any advice will be appreciated.

I think that's a good practice for protecting dormant arils in a wet
climate. The other alternative is to somehow cover the garden bed where it
is growing, so that air, heat, and light gets in but rain doesn't.
