Mark, I usually try to grow species from seed rather than buying bulbs.
Many of the species succumb to virus rather quickly in gardens. That may be
less true for superbum at your place which is close to the natural range
for it but it is true here.
An advantage of using seed is that you can keep it growing from new seed
even if it is short lived. Lilies are self sterile and even if you buy two
or three bulbs from a supplier the chances are that they are clones and
will not produce viable seed.
Superbum does not readily cross with most lilies and so you should be
reasonably certain of getting true seed from one of the seed exchanges such
as NALS or NARGS.
