Oh, yes, a classic movie! I remember it well--and I even own a copy of it.
1962, starred Howard Keel and Nicole Maurey. I love the description on
the back of the movie's box:
As almost everyone on earth is blinded by meteor showers from outerspace,
they become easy victims and fall prey to man-eating plants.
Although somehow I always think of the Triffids as being kin to kudzu.
Except that I think Triffids were easier to kill <g>.
