OT-PLANTS: Daylillies

Hi Steve: I am new to this Iris list. I live in New Hampshire and grow
tall bearded Iris and daylilies. I grow around 200 hundred lilies.
When the seed pods ripen and split in the fall, i dry them on paper
towels and put them in airtight containers. They are placed in my
refrigerator until March. You can start them indoors in flats or sow
them outdoors in a sunny area in rich soil. Several good books have
been written about daylilies. I have one called Dayllies, The Perfect
Perrenial, Author....Hill. The book explains it all. If you cant
locate a copy, let me know. Our local Barnes & Noble has several copies
in stock. Pauline Haworth, Manchester, NH,USDA Zone 5 Iris
finished blooming and daylilies are getting ready for their show!

IR>Hello Friends,
IR>I seem to have become obsessed with daylillies now that I have taken the
IR>time to appreciate their beauty. There are daylillies everywhere. Since the
IR>irises are taking a break, I have started hybridizing daylillies. I have
IR>two pods on one plant( Black Eyed Stella ). The other plant I have been
IR>crossing doesn't seem to want to take. My question is, "I have some
IR>daylillie seeds ;can someone tell me the correct way to plant them? How
IR>long till they germinate? etc....."

IR>Sincerlilly, Steve
