Sorry if I have misled - there was no offer of free iris to join.

Joanne either wrote or called or something in response to a letter I wrote
asking for additional information - maybe I called to find out if there were
any clubs closer than 100 miles away or asked for help in finding iris that
would perform better in my dreadful garden or who knows what. It's been more
than 5 yrs & I don't recall. Anyway, she had some leftovers (some
unlabelled, some recent intros (mostly too small to sell)) that she offered
to give me. All of you know how irisarians are with rhizomes and greedy
newbies......we like to share. She sent me two big boxes of stuff. I was
impressed. And managed to kill most of them. BLITZ and VICTORIA FALLS were
among the good ones - two of my best performers here.

So, maybe the moral of the story is, instead of sitting around being a
wallflower waiting for your RVP to contact you, dig out their phone number
and give them a call.
If the RVP doesn't have any iris to share, I will bet a nickle there will be
a local club with at least one member who will. We didn't have a local club
at the time, but Joanne got me in touch with the Couturiers at Sunnyridge
Gardens and we started a one.
