Excellent job on describing the iris borer life cycle and remedies.
Although I *fortunately* do not have the problem, one question did pop
to mind. Can you describe the egg mass or are they(it) too small to see?
Are the eggs tightly attached to the leaves or might they fall off
easily if disturbed?
