Re: OWYHEE DESERT

From: "Carryl M. Meyer" <carrylm@bigsky.net>

Vince noted that OWYHEE DESERT --in the garden in OKC had a low bud count
and twas bunched--that might have been due to their unusually long hot
spell last year--the times I have seen it--in Lucille's garden and in
Oregon at Keith Keppel's--the bud count was acceptable and it was not
bunched--so before you really decide if you do not like the form--see it
growing another year--
It also is in the gardens in Dallas--so you should look for it there--
While at AIS meeting, I note some of the flowers I have seen--and which are
really not quite acceptable--then after I am home, I list these--and the
next year go specifically looking for them--since I cannot afford to but
ALL the new ones each year, this is what helps me to decide which to buy
the next year-- as well as the ones which are winning the awards and will
be in contention in a few years for higher awards--
So Vince--just because it was not perfect in OKC--do not give up on it
yet--
the colors and color pattern are great--and it should do well in
hybridizing --
I have seen some offspring and the pattern traits have been passed on--
Carryl in western Montana zone 3/4 where we are having rain, wind, hail,
and the show is tomorrow!
