Donald,
Prickly Pear is native here too, although most people would not think
of Cactus growing wild in Florida. Because they are a source of food for an
endangered species of Turtle, I have been letting the Cacti grow. If one
comes up in the "wrong" place, it goes to the back of the lot where nothing
else hardly will grow. The Turtles to pay an occasional visit, and being an
endangered species...I want them to have their food supply.
Thankfully, they don't appear to like Irises...
