Re: OT: roadside maintenance

James, I am glad that you are getting somewhere with your county road
maintenance crews. We are still many decades behind here in Franklin
County, Missouri. Our crews hate anything green growing by the county
roads. They do plant a few wildflowers (some natives) and lots of crown
vetch along the interstate here in Missouri, but that is the state and not
the county. When the county is out spraying Roundup on the roadsides around
here, you'd better not stand too close, or they will spray you too! I found
that out as a child on a bike. Later I switched to horses and just wheeled
them around to flee when I saw the roundup guys. They obviously do not like
their jobs and are sort of on "automatic"! Tennessee (and Kentucky) are
beautiful states; I would like to live there one day.
