OT: More Nostalgia - longish

From: Jan Clark <janclarx@hotmail.com>

Hi All,
This was one of my favourite posts from that black time between iris-l and
iris-talk. Reprinted in it's entirety with permission from Celia Storey, I
call it 'Celia's Lament'.
Hands up all those mentioned in the following post who are still here.

>>Plugging into Iris-L at any time of the day or night and reading >>the
>>conversations of people who have begun to seem like particular >>friends
>>has been such a habit over the past year and a half that I >>find myself
>>at loose ends this week. I plop down at the monitor, pop >>up my dialer
>>and sit back expecting to watch 1,670 messages >>downloading slowly, ever
>>so slowly while I frown at their passing >>subject lines and wonder
>>whether I shouldn't just blanket delete the >>entire lot. Don't these
>>people have gardens to weed?
>>But now comes this void, these lonely hours of no mail or only the >>few
>>messages you have so considerately passed along. I've learned I >>really
>>miss my iris pals, even the silly ones who never remember to >>post their
>>locations and who insist upon me-too'ing every pun or >>aside until Art
>>Bern is fit to be tied.

>>Where is everyone? What is happening around Rima's pond? Has Anner >>gone
>>for a stroll through the alleys of Richmond without inviting >>me?
>>Shouldn't Walter be disgruntled about something? Doesn't Ian or >>Bill or
>>Rodney or Tom or John or Juri or Gunnar or Arnold or Carl or >>-- here

>>some unpronounceable species iris they aren't sure >>deserves the name?
>>Where is Griff's erudition? Where is Jeff's >>puckish wit? Where are the
>>irrepressable Australians with their >>topsy-turvey seasons and their
>>clever ways with words?
>>Where is today's magnificently impenetrable genetics lesson from
>> >>brilliant Sharon, today's wild and crazy storytelling from
>> >>Kathyguest, today's to-the-point expertise from Superstition's Rick
>> >>Tasco? Claire's and Ellen's Yankee ingenuity, Rusty's exuberance,

>>How is Dahliaman's new garden blooming? Will Linda Mann ever refine >>her

>>And most of all, what does Mark think about all of this weather?
>>I miss all the people who may not post often but whose presence
