Re: CULT:Replanting\Strange but true

From: BobGWilson@aol.com

Dear Betty, DITTO I have been known to leave unplanted rhizomes in the
potting shed for 2-3 years - shouldn't clean it too often! - thrown them at
the side of the compost pile,
and have quite unexpected blooms the following year. Iris are quite
forgiving. But I thoroughly agree with planting as soon as possible after
digging. When I an digging 3-4 weeks before our iris sale, I put my extra
rhizomes i 12"x14" plastic tubs tha t I but at the Dollar Store. I add a few
handfuls of peat moss and some water, being careful to remove all water after
it rains. THis keeps the existing roots fresh, and fosters the development
of the new roots for next year. Bob Wilson
