surprised that none of the seeds exhibited the white collar...or aril. Is
this typical behavior for quarterbreds? (Omar's Torch is an OGB-). Or is
it more likely that these seeds are underdeveloped? (I made the cross
approximately 7 to 8 weeks ago.

AT LAST, a TB x 1/4 arilbred? was gathered early because it
shriveled w/o splitting. Turned out it had worms. Some of the
seeds were not damaged and looked o.k., but all had the collar.
Doubt that mine were completely mature since only three of my
pods have cracked so far. Will try anyway.

read AT LAST x TRAITOR. The arilbred is the pod parent.
Maybe I should stick to bee pods.

I can't offer any hard and fast rules on this. Seeds from halfbreds do
tend to have arils, although they aren't as pronouced as those of the
arillate species and their hybrids. I've seen seeds from quarterbreds with
and without arils. It seems to be a trait of the pod parent rather than
the nature of the cross. Logical conclusion, of course, but I do tend to
question EVERYTHING.
