Re: CULT:RHIZOME ROT

Definitely give it a chance.
House rule here is that all irises are allowed 3 years to get their act in
gear or get pitched. Sometimes the amount of abuse they've gotten between
gardens can really set them back.
About 4 years ago I was down to a piece of rhisome about an inch square
after trimming. Since this was a TB, I wasn't very hopeful about its
chances.
Our spring had been jumping from freezing to warm and both extremes were
wet. I tossed the little stragler into a pot with some sterile potting
medium and put the thing in the greenhouse where I could monitor the amount
of moisture it got.
This spring it's one of the most striking clumps in the garden and is
covered in huge blooms.
