HIST: Attention HIPS Members!

From: hipsource@aol.com

Greetings.

I'd like to remind the HIPS membership that this pause before the rainbows is
a most excellent time to get your iris collection list together and send it
to Sharon Fox, HIPS DataBank Chairman.

The HIPS DataBank is the record of what HIPS knows survives in our members'
gardens, and as such it is the fundamental record of our preservation
activity and must inform all HIPS programs. Clearly we need it to be as
comprehensive and as current as is possible.

If you have never sent in a list of your historic irises, which are hybrid
Iris cultivars
(bearded, beardless SIB, LA, JI, AR and any other ) dating from before 1971,
and most Iris species, please do so. If it has been more than a couple of
years since you sent in an update, please take a few hours and update your
information now. Even if you only grow a few historics, kindly send the
DataBank your little list. If you are not interested in having people
referred to you for starts of rarer things, just write that on the list and
send it in. But we do need to know what is growing out there.

The address for Ms. Fox, HIPS DataBank Chairman, is on the inside front cover
of your ROOTS.

We thank you most large.
