Well, yes, but few know that Ken Smith's Richmond is not my Richmond
and if I manage to find RICHMONDTOWN I'll never admit to its having
Yankee roots. Ken had to have had an appreciation of history. Of
course, he lived on Staten Island, in the borough of Richmond (also
county) which went Indian--> Dutch--> English--> American and whether
or not he lived close to the old Dutch town at the heart of Richmond
is anyones' guess.
As Ken's borough was named for the Duke of Richmond, illegitimate son
of Charles II, I have looked for something not quite legit concerning
Richmondtown's antecedents but it is all above board. It must have
been just his civic pride -- no ulterior motive.
