Hi all, I lurk a lot and write infrequently, but thought my Edith
Wolford experience has been interesting. I planted many various Rhis.
last July in the ground, and they all grew well except EW. It just
languished and did nothing. In late Oct. since it had done nothing I
pulled it from the ground and it had no roots. I tried putting it in a
pot and placed it in a sunny window thinking the warmth would help it.
Not so. In fact the few leaves on it began to turn brown. So in Dec.
I put in back in the ground and figured it had no chance. But the Rhiz.
was firm. Well now with all the other Rhiz going great guns, the little
EW is putting out new growth. There is still hope. It is amazing to me
that with no leaves and no roots, the Rhiz. has enough nutrients to
bring it back to life. We'll see how much it develops, and if it ever
puts out a flower. Doug in Mill Valley,
Northern Calif.
