HYB: CULT: germination & erosion?

From: Dennis Kramb <dkramb@badbear.com>

I left work early today to enjoy the beeyooteeful weather, and I noticed
some interesting things in the garden.

Germination has begun. I have some newly germinated LA, SPU, Foetidissima,
and Arilbred seedlings...the first of the year! I'm sure that new ones
will continue to pop up with each new warm day. Hopefully there won't be
any more spring freezes to kill 'em off, but this early in the year that's
wishful thinking.

Also, I have four clumps of Iris virginica var. shrevei. Two of the clumps
seem to be growing up out of the ground with the rhizomes almost entirely
exposed. I can't figure out if this is erosion, or if the new increases
have done this on purpose. It's definitely not heaving because these were
planted 22 or 23 months ago. Can someone familiar with the growth habit of
Iris virginica var. shrevei let me know if I ought to rebury them, or let
them do their thing? I'm kindof worried they will get scalded by the sun.
