Afternoon all...
Dave Silverberg noted STARSHIP ENTERPRISE is still $45.00 this year in the
Schreiners catalog. From the OKC convention gardens last year that I saw it
growing or sitting in/blooming a single flower in, I'd guess it must not
increase any better in Oregon than it did/does here. I haven't been back to
the specific gardens here to see if it made a survivor or lived out the
winter.
Most places I saw it, it was one single stalk with one big bloom sitting atop
a bloomstalk that apparently was strong enough to hold it (the day we were
there anyway)... The bud count was really pitiful. I don't think I saw but
4 buds total on one plant and 3 on the other two... But, I must say, the big
bloom that was open was spectacular. Course, if you have to pay $45 a year
every year to see that one flower, it may or may not be worth it... Just my
opinion... I don't own it. Don't think it would stand up here at the gusty
Poore-House. The 3 places I can recall seeing SE they were all 3 in very
protected areas...
I know I have some responses to answer, just let me (and both my OCU teams)
get past the Sooner Athletic Conference Championship games tonight (all
night) and I'll catch up over the next couple of days... Am certainly
enjoying all the chat. And, I promise to get by the greenhouse tomorrow and
check out Razzleberry to be able to give you all specific answers... Just
too many hoops since last Thursday noon...
Kath in OKC..... =^.^=
