Interesting some of the more off-beat, homespun remedies that are surfacing
lately for iris challanges...
limiting host plants for iris borers
the possible use of aspirin on borytritis
... and so on.
I'd love to have someone expand on the latter, especially - why it should
work, other uses, concentration and so on.
For my part, I intend to experiment with BAP-10 this year. This is a
cocktail that is very popular in the daylily world for encouraging fast
increase, and is now being experimented with in hosta-dom for the same
reasons. I'm going to try some paste on bearded irises and some spray on
beardless and let you know if I think there's an increase in divisions - or
if it just keeps me occupied while the iris does its thing.
Any other voodoo out there??
And, in other news, I need to find a way to keep my neighbor's (aka The
Clampetts) many cats out of my garden where they've determined it shall be a
giant litter box and dislodge my irises in the process. I can humane trap
the squirrels, but these cats need to learn some manner without being harmed.
Or maybe it's my neighbors who need to learn the manners.
