That is entirely possible. The general rule is that if you want to use
manure, age it well, composting it is even better, and use it in bed
preparation, positioning it so it will be available to the roots, but not
near the rhizome.

That will vary from place to place and horse to horse and plop to plop, but
here are some rough guidelines.
NPK ratio is 2--1--2.5, contains 1% sulfur; 0.2% calcium and some
micronutrients. There is fairly rapid release when fresh, slow release when
dry.
