Sandy says of Jeff's reasons for no longer growing an iris:

I agree this was a very good reply and shall also use them is guidelines.
It was sure nice to see these replies. I was beginning to think I was
being perceived as a sort of iris serial killer! Actually, those that don't
attrite themselves are found homes. Usually to a fellow from work who
has very different growing conditions from. A nice sandy loam located
on the east side of his home protecting everything from our wicked
west sun. BBs reach 5' feet with no effort or work. Something I'll
never see on my rockpile.

The scorch symptoms may cause some very unwilling attrition here
for my part. The TBs seem to be coming out of it and are showing
signs of holding the healthy growth. But much to my dismay, more
of the arilbreds seem to be coming down with the malady and none so
far show any signs of recovering. This after some have grown well for
more than three years. Maybe some much needed rain today will
perk up a lot of plants here. Unfortunately it had three waves of hail
in it which cost me the ONLOOKER bud showing color. Also, since
it was not predicted I had set out my seedlings for more sun as usual
and they got hailed on as well. Poor little plants. Still, they came out
better than I would have thought. Wouldn't have taken a very large hail
stone with a direct hit to wipe out one of the little fellows. Still, I
doubt
I lost more than ten unless there are lingering after effects. Some
erosion damage to repair this weekend. A price for being on a hill.
