Dear Rosalie,
Thank You for responding. The spoon marker is a good idea. I've
also used the extra slats from mini-blinds with a perminate marker.
They sun faded and were unreadable after one year.
Jacksonville, NC is on the coast, North of Myrtle Beach by three
hours. We are retiring here next summer, as my husband finishes 21
years of Marine Corps Service.
We were in North West Oklahoma (Enid), when I found an Iris Group
selling rhizomes in late July 98. I purchased the rhizomes dried &
marked. When we moved to Jacksonville, NC (April 99) I brought the
irises with me. From the time I bought them, until I got them in the
ground it was a year. All the lables were gone.
I typed a list of the names of each iris I had. The list is still
in the 'lost world', where things go when you move. I put the list
inside something to keep it safe. I just have to remember where that
was. I had an iris bed while in Oklahoma. That bed of flowers was
plants given to me by a neighbor. I had blooms that were dark purple
almost black, white, yellow and white, purple and white, peach and
many mixes of color. I hope to find the names for each iris I have
in my garden.
As I get blooms I will take pictures and try to identify each
iris. I can attach pictures to e-mails. My e-mail is
"harrisfamily@coastalnet.com" When I get blooms I will share my
pictures. If you can identify any of my iris names it would be
greatly appreciated.
Thanks again for responding.
Sincerely Yours,
Lucy
