Jan,
I buy rabbit pellets at my local Wal-mart store and the five pound bag is
less than three dollars. My Iris bed is 12 feet by 24 feet. The article
I quoted said a fifty pound bag of horse pellets would cover five hundred
square feet. They also stated they use four tons applied to two acres in
intervening years on intensively planted ground, used for irises for about
fifteen years. I only have a small flower bed and this is my first real
year at perfecting my Iris growing technic. I have gathered iris rhizomes
and a little data. I was sharing what I have learned so far. I just
discovered my first iris bud for this year today. I applied the rabbit
pellets three weeks ago to my iris bed.
