A half-dozen years ago or so, I phoned the manufacturers of these pellets.
They said there was enough difference in the contents of the two kinds of
pellets to make the horse pellets preferable . There are 3 forms of this --
one is powdered - like a dust - some prefer this, I don;t like it because it
can blow, get on my clothes and shoes, etc. The 2nd kind is sort of lumps
about the size of the end of thumb -- but it doesn't allow for easier spread
to cover the beds. The choice (IMHO) are the pellets which is about the size
of a pencil eraser . It comes in 40 lb bags(I think) and around $7.00 The
cheapest fertilizer you can buy - I use it with horsemanure, tilled in the
