The most vigorous iris for us is Orange Celebrity. Avalon Sunset also does
fairly well.

I keep trying oranges and until VOLTAGE (Messick '93), none
have done much. No vigor, poor or no bloom. I actually have
several cultivars growing out in the beds. 4 years and no bloom
on GOOD SHOW, short stunted stalks on FRINGE BENEFITS,
CHINA DRAGON only provided two blooms one season as the
hot weather caused the other buds to die in place. MALAGUENA
and MALAYSIA, neither bright oranges here, hang in there but
don't grow very well. VOLTAGE, though has done extremely
well. Among the top growers, bloomed abundantly, stalks in
the TB height class (hard to get here) and about the color of a
really well dyed orange straight from the grocery store. Can't
miss the clump. What about RUSTY MAGNIFICENCE? I'd say
it was burnt orange as it grows here and it's a strong grower and
makes a nice garden plant, but blooms look best from a distance
as they tend to show marring easily. SPANISH FIREBALL has
sulked since planting, but hasn't been here as long. SUPERSIMMON
hasn't bloomed, but the growth looks good.
