Re: TB: CULT: favorite blues?

BREAKERS, although an older one, is OUTSTANDING here in Phoenix. The color
is a LOT lighter than the pictures that are posted in Schreiner's catalog
because our soil here is different, and I believe the photos are touched up
to look darker.

Anyway, it blooms reliably EVERY YEAR for me and has not rotted. The form
is great, the plant has a lot of vigour, and it doesn't fade. Even if I have
a fairly small increase from the prior year's growth, by bloom time it is
putting on a show.

One of the most remarkable traits is that it "sparkles" when in full sun.
Get up close to look at it, and it has little sparkles in it.

Mark always makes me plant it where it can be seen from the back door.
Although I like it, one day I would like to see something else planted in
that area.

So this year I ordered PRINCESS CAROLINE DE MONACO. To other that have
grown it, it is more gorgeous than any picture they have seen. But will it
grow here as good a BREAKERS ??? We'll see...
