Gerry and Linda,

SILVERADO has exquisite form and substance, but it is hardly capable of
quenching a thirst for blueness, as it is more of a silvery, blue-tinted
white rather than a true blue. For the same flower qualities, plus full
blue color there is PACIFIC DESTINY (Lauer, '93), except that it has
branching problems. YAQUINA BLUE is the closest to fully saturated spectrum
blue among the irises I grow - just wish it had a bit more vigor. VICTORIA
FALLS has the vigor, plus a good mid-blue color and a zonal blaze on the
falls to set it off. COMING ATTRACTION (Gaulter, '87) is very similar in
appearance and vigor to VF and the stalks don't lean.

Among the lighter blues, SONG OF NORWAY is still a classic, and I am
finding CONTINUITY (Innerst, '94) to be a more recent introduction with
manifold good qualities. NAVAJO JEWEL (Weiler, '84) has a uniquely
appealing color, though not quite the turquoise that the name implies (a
color I have only seen in irises on the style arms of certain Siberians).
As a bonus, it is very fragrant.

In the midnight blues, STELLAR LIGHTS (Aitken, '86) stands out as a
reliable performer. It also has that eye-catching zonal blaze on the falls.
