Hi All:
I certainly wish that Spring was hitting me here in Goldsboro, NC. I've
read that Dr. Z and Janet in SC have even had a few blooms. After all of
the rain that we received from the hurricanes last summer/fall, I was
beginning to think that they were all going to rot. Most of my TB's (and
there's quite a few of them) died back to the rhizome. I had to treat a
lot of iris over the winter months for rot with minimal loss, but they are
finally starting to look healthy. They are just now starting to look like
1st year transplants with just a few exceptions. Well, at least they
finally are greening up and I'm keeping a careful eye out for more rot. We
were fortunate that we did not suffer a prolonged cold, wet winter. I'm
only hoping that I will manage to get bloom this season. I had some iris
that were reblooming when the hurricanes hit, but lost the rest of my normal
rebloom due to the saturated ground (at least I think that's what caused
it). I'm glad that others seem to having better luck.
Happy Irising to All,
Leslie Liddiard
