Those interested in the fascinating story of HONORABILE and its mutations,
including JOSEPH"S COAT, can read an excellent account of same on the HIPS
page at http://www.worldiris.com. Pick the right hand side of the entry
portal and open the 'ROOTS Articles' area on the table of contents page.
There are pictures!
As I have remrked here before, another notable example of change was
published by Clarence Mahan who had a rhizome of I. germanica var.
florentina--the white form of I. germanica, change to the typical purple
form, which he named for his grandmother and introduced. Given the amount of
I.germanica around I keep expecting that information to shed some light on
one of these reports.
