Re: TB: RING AROUND ROSIE

From: "Patrick Orr" <PatrickJOrr@hotmail.com>

Also, it has what appears to be a yellow beard, the standards are slightly
open and ruffled at the top, but closed near the beard. The gentle ruffled
falls appear in the picture to have a yellow band around white ground on the
underside of the petal, but it could just be the picture. The style arm
seems to be white with some yellow and the crest is white. The white in the
standards almost seems to be a glacier white, but then again, that could
just be the picture too.

Not sure if it's the angle of the picture, but the standards seem to be a
lot taller than the slightly flaring falls. To me, it looks like a geyser
shoosting out of a small hill. The violet plicata markings are one of the
best I have seen, with the lines between the dots extending all the way down
to the yellow band on the falls, which is where the violet color stops. The
falls are very wide.

Ron Mullin's article starting page 59 (which contains a gorgeous pic of I
SAID YEAH, a Burnseen '00 intro) says that RING AROUND ROSIE has WISH X WILD
JASMINE in its background, and that it is a new color pattern. He predicts
that many hybridizers will be searching out this one because of the new
pattern.

I would have to agree with Walter...this new color pattern is more
impressive than the Emma Cook band on Starship Enterprise. I guess I'll be
doling out another $40 to $50 for this one as well. I wonder when the
Cooley's catalog is due to arrive?

I would like to hear from any of you that do get it. I'd like to compare
notes on growth/bloom habits.
