It's hard to believe the AIS Y2K Convention is almost upon us and there's
LOTS to do to get ready.
I will publish an updated list of attendees later today, which doubles as a
Geek Tag list. That is, for anyone who is on this list who will be in
Dallas, I have offered to make a special bright yellar Geek Tag which
contains your name and e-mail address. This way, we can easily spot geeks in
the crowd and bond.
Furthermore... don't forget about the 2nd annual GEEK DINNER, scheduled for
Wednesday, April 19th. This is when we all get together for food and fun and
also raise a little money for electronic initiatives. I am pasting Joanne's
invitation at the end of this message for anyone who missed it.
AND FURTHERMORE.... if you are coming to the GEEK DINNER, we are asking you
to bring something consumable that represents your
city/state/province/country - last year, we specifically requested wine - but
this year, we are letting YOU decide what would be most appropriate. One
brilliant donation in 1999 was state-shaped cookies. When you make up your
mind, let me know and I'll add that information to the geek tag list to
inspire the rest.
AND FURTHERMORE.... we are requesting donations for our very fun auction!
This is a Geek-specific auction with Peter Weixlmann presiding. We auction
off items to raise money for electronic initiatives for AIS - and we all have
a pet project to promote. We've already received some promises and gift
certificates.... and I suppose I should get that information organized as
well.
Note.... we are grateful for any donations - you don't have to be coming to
the convention to make an offer.

Come join us for the Second Annual Geek Dinner in Dallas. Last year's dinner
was lots of fun meeting with all the Geek folks who make up the iris-talk
community. The dinner this year will again be Italian, consisting of salad,
garlic bread, lasagna, hot vegetable, and dessert with coffee and/or tea. The
cost is $16/person. Soda, wine, or mixed drinks are extra at your own
expense. Bring a favorite hors'deurve or a dessert to share if you'd like.
Advance reservations are required and checks should be made out directly to
me. We currently have doorprizes from Sutton's Green Thumber, Superstition
Iris Gardens, and Maryott's Iris Gardens. If you have items for the Geek
Auction, please contact Kathy Guest at irisborer@aol.com. Looking forward to
