Why wouldn't Louisianas do beautifully there, they do so both in Florida and
Louisiana!! Bearded are like tulips in needing cold. I understand some
people put tulip bulbs in the refrigerator for a time and then plant them. I
don't know how that works or how it would do for iris rhizomes. It would be
interesting. Maybe I'll see if a granddaughter in Miami would try it.
Also, I would think Japanese irises would grow there - ?
I was in Taiwan about 15 years ago with one of my granddaughters - no, it was
20 years ago - I just looked at our photo album - and thoroly enjoyed your
museum and the trip to the Taroko Gorge and a garden and some falls. We
were the guest of a Mr Su Wang Chen who was the manager of the Taiwan Foreign
Books in Taipei which sold my husband's book on Human Anatomy. When my
husband died he had written a very touching poem about him. I don't suppose
he is still living. Our interpreter was a Miss Chiang and we went to a
restaurant and watched them cook a Mongolian Barbecue which we ate and then
walked around the market and saw so many interesting things, including
snakes! We stayed at the Grand Hotel and were very impressed with their two
dining rooms at opposite ends: Oriental and Western. He was a delightful
person. Our trip was with a Florida Medical Group to China - Beth was 11
years old at the time and very blonde, so she attracted a lot of attention.
We branched off on the way home to see Mr. Chen - I remember we had to have 2
passports because of the national problems and we had also been to Japan to
visit friends. Rosalie nr Baltimore , USA ryfigge@aol.com
