Sounds like slime mold?. If that's what it is, it's a wonderful
predator of bacteria and will eat all your soft rot for breakfast.
Did you use alfalfa pellets? I have had virtually no soft rot since
starting to use the alfalfa, but did have some nice patches of slime
mold last year.
I expected this post to be about pollen <LOL>
