You didn't say where in southern Oregon you were. There's a bit of
difference between Jordan Valley and Medford or the coast. If you
are in the general area of Medford, you should have no trouble with
bearded irises if they have the drainage, sun and soil to grow in.
If you are in southern Malheur, Lake or Harney Counties, well..., try
spurias. Hardiest TB's will grow, but not quickly.
Another thing that will slow an iris down is a TREE ROOT. If you
have them planted in the root zone of maples, pines or oaks you will
have a starving iris. Move a piece out into your vegetable garden
where the peas and rhubarb thrive. They will bloom there if anywhere.
