Dear Doris,  I found your observations very interesting.  Irises are really 
tough and can stand a lot of neglect.   I sort of compare it to mothers' 
inexperience with first babies  -- they both learn to cope!    By the way, to 
make it easier to file your address, it is easier to know your last name,  
USDA zone, and State.  I have not logged onto your message before - and maybe 
everyone else knows it - there is always the possibility of some new person, 
so it helps to always repeat it as most other membes do  --- thanks.
