OT-Bio

Folks,

    I am a generalist gardener in Chapel Hill, NC (zone 7a) whose interest in irises has increased greatly in the past year due to the availability of excellent conditions for bearded iris, and the development of a ditch garden at the foot of my lot, which is going to be the water iris garden of my dream -- I hope!

    Question:  Any advice/comments from experienced LA iris growers would be welcome.  I have about a dozen planted in the ditch garden a few days ago.  The vendor lost, then found, my last fall's order, and I decided to take them anyway, even though spring is not the usual planting season.  The soil is rich and wet, though rather clayey, and they get about a half day's sun.  Advice?  Warnings?  Thanks in advance.
