Try putting out red pepper in that clump. The dogs will not like that and stay off. I use that to teach my pets that the trashcans are off limits in the house.

My I. unguicularis clump is nearly 2' across now. Been in place about 6
years. No bloom this year though since the dogs have decided it is the
perfect sleeping mat. All my efforts to discourage them have failed. I
guess the location at the southeast corner of the house where the morning
sun shines on it makes it a cozy, warm spot while I am slaving away at the
9-5 job.
