   Betty, you should have been rewarded for growing it so well, not 
penalized.  Soils and other conditions can cause slight color 
changes.  I don't think I would ever disqualify an iris for color 
nuances.  They have to be clearly misnamed before I would eject 
one from a show.  

   Enjoyed reading your post, otherwise.  It is not often that we hear 
from irisarians in this little nook of Oregon/California.
