Hi - I have a few questions about the iris named Gibson Girl. I
planted several last fall, along with many other varieties. All are
starting to come up and doing fine. However, I seem to have only one
rhizome that I can find of Gibson Girl. And that rhizome is extremely
small compared to all of the others. I live in western Washington,
zone 7. We have had in March alone, a week of gorgeous sun, followed
by snow, then several days of freezing weather, followed by
torrential rains. Not a typical March for us, and this is pretty much
the way the entire winter has been. Does Gibson Girl have special
requirements? Such as not too much rain, etc. As all the others are
doing fine, (in full sun), I'm wondering if I will have to try
something different next year with Gibson Girl. We have sandy loam,
with excellent drainage, (tons of rock, however). Any comments on the
requirements of Gibson Girl would be appreciated. If it doesn't grow
well in this area, I guess I will have to move on to another iris.
However, I really think Gibson Girl is gorgeous. Thanks - Gail
McCowan (western Washington, torrential rains today, and a thunder
storm last night)
