Re: AIS: secret decoder ring...EML

<FOLLOW THE FLEET and SHORE PATROL, two of my latest registrations,
start blooming towards the end of the Mid-Season, so I registered them
as MLs. The first letter for the season should indicate the BEGINNING
of the bloom
season with the opening of the terminal bud, so MLs start after
Ms........... From this discussion and from what is written on page IX
of the '99 Check list, it appears that there are many definitions for
something I originally thought was simple.Walter Moores Enid Lake, MS

I'll say! & if the <first letter for the season should indicate the
BEGINNING of the bloom season> then the M's and ML's both start with M
and so they both 'should' begin blooming at the same time... & as you
see, it says on page ix that the bloom season is divided into thirds (E,
M, & L) for each class of iris (not into 6ths), so there shouldn't be
any that start blooming halfway between M & L .....<g>

We keep trying to make order out of chaos, but it isn't always working
....but, in any case, it's good to hear that at least one hybridizer
means ML's bloom later than regular M's! Thanks Walter
