There is a cultivar of trumpet vine called Mme. Galen I think. It is not nearly so invasive as the original one and quite pretty. Maybe that is what was for sale in cans.

Hi all,
Trumpet vine is a really big problem here. Once it is here it is harder than poison ivy to kill and devasting to gardens. Where some other things can be controlled by mowing it cannot and leaves sharp sticks in the lawn that can not be pulled up. Roundup does not seem to effect it much. It is the top of my plant pest list.
