I'm not in your zone, but for me DAWNING is an excellent garden iris.
Vigorous (second only to some Byers or Sutton things, or Epicenter); very
dependable bloom (though no rebloom); rhizomes tend to create good
separation and not become bunchy; tall stalks with high bud count.
