I guess I qualify for living in a colder winter climate and for letting
Mother Nature do her thing. Seeds are planted in the late fall, either
directly into the ground or in pots (I've done both). They also are covered
by a thin layer of course sand. Kansas has had a dry winter so the seeds
didn't get much moisture. They usually start germinating early April when
the ground starts to warm up. I have to be very careful so they do not dry
out. I try to line them out later in the summer so they don't suffer from
the heat & droughts of July-August. Of course there is no bloom the first
year, sometimes not till the third year. I envy those of you that can get
bloom much sooner.
